Hi all,

Well my Raider is now about 10 days old and I just finished my first (of many) mods. My version of the rear fender clean-up. Thought I would share a pic with you.

First and foremost, credit where credit is due. Many thanks to Eian for sharing his knowledge and http://www.raiderperformance.com mods and how-to section for their instruction and inspiration.

I did the belt black out project found here...
http://www.raiderperformance.com/maintenance.htm#beltguard

License plate move found here...
http://www.raiderperformance.com/maintenance.htm#tailandside

Quick release rear seat from Eian found here...
http://www.mybikeforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,329.msg2736.html#msg2736

I also put on Silver Bullet rear turn signals and got rid of the stock versions (again inpired by Eian's post)

Here is what it looks like.

Warning: I am not any kind of expert like some of the other folks modifying sleds in this forum!

That being said, if anybody is considering this kind of mod and my learning could aid in any way please let me know.

Eian... got your PM... thanks!

Looks very sharp. I actually like your turn signal idea if the integrated tailight is not someones cup of tea. Very very clean looking. Now when Hal gets done with the wider rear stock looking rim, that will let the 240 lay out, that will look sick!

Elan, is the man. Look what he started. Now, I have a project to do. I hope I don't screw it up.

Mc, you did a terrific job. How long did it take you? Any problems along the way? I do, however, like the idea of the integrated light. I just don't want to wait two weeks with out riding.

Wow, well thanks for the kind words from everyone. I am by no means a master at this, but I am glad some of my ideas have proved useful for others. I am here to help any way I can, and so is everyone else, thats why I love this place.

Wow, just what I was looking for. Cheaper and I don't have to wait on my tail light to come back, so I can ride. Install at my leisure. Cool. 8)

Savage..

Here is a link to one in the Performance Edge eBay store. This one will require spacers to clear the rear foot pegs.

Vlad,

The whole project took me a couple of hours. The biggest challenge for me was finding ways to get the wires secured and away from the tire. We actually met at Shawnee Cycle right after your unfortunate driveway incident when I was shopping for my Raider. We're only 30 minutes from each other. Let me know if you need help.

I'm having trouble finding the tag bolts. Are these a specific size/thread pitch/etc., or do you just kind of force-screw them in to the nut (since they're vinyl)?

The ones I used were not size specific the fit through the existing nut in the fender support and I put the nut that came with tem on under the fender. McSwizzle bolt specs are correct but I was unable to find chrome hardware so I went this route.

dave I was at walmart today and they had some. If you need me to pick you a pack up I can do it for you. Let me know if you can't locate them.

Eian,

I found them yesterday at Wal-mart. Scary how every store must be exactly the same - there they were near the license plate section.

Anyway, it worked perfectly - fit right through the existing nut in the fender. Great idea.

Thanks!

those are pretty cool I will have to keep them in mind for future stuff. I am just using these until my fender rack comes in.

Hey Eian,

Just curious... do you pop the plastic covers off when you put the back seat on or position the suction cups around them? The reason I sanded mine down and paint matched them was so that I would not have to deal with seat positioning.

I just take the front 2 out when i use the seat. and put them back in when I am done. The back 2 never touched the cups.

I don't think you have to wait at all to put on an integrated tail light. You could do it in one or two evenings if you used this one. It is also much brighter, I did it and love it! I hate anything sticking out the sides of the rear and this looks so much cleaner!

Desert. I am stuck between the Performance Edge light, and this one. It seems that Matt is claiming that That light is better then any other lights out there. And it also seems easy to install. At custumdynamics, don't you have to take the light appart then grind and glue it back together? I am not sure if I can pull off something like this. Will I screw it up? Any feed back helps.

Thank you

Vlad
