Tire questions?

I have been looking at buying the Avon tires for my bike. I have also looked at other brands as well and have noticed something strange that I can't understand. All the tires I have looked at seem to be Radial tires for the back and BIAS ply for the front, why? It seems to me you would want BOTH to be radials,or both to match anyway.Does this make any difference? Do any/all of you run the Avon radial on back and the bias ply on the front I guess? Confused:shocked:

As strange as it sounds, the Raider comes from the factory with Radial in back and Bias in front.

I did a little online research and it seems that the consensus is that due to the differences in handling characteristics, it's OK to put a Radial on the back and Bias on the front but NEVER the reverse. In addition, the tires must be from the same model line and manufacturer because things like tread pattern and rubber composition are designed to work in concert.
