Hi,
I still have my '85 XV100 as a back up to my Boss Hoss.
I had a similar problem for quite a while. One cylinder was dying and sometimes the 2nd followed. When I stopped and let it run in neutral it was all good again. I changed a lot before we exchanged the blackbox. Nothing helped but that new blackbox.
BTW I have 109'000km (67'800miles) on the odometer.

maybe your diaphragm in the petcock is leaking?? Flooding the cylinder and killing your spark.
