really sorry i'm gonna miss you on this one.

i actually double-checked your route - to see if there was any way
i could link up on one of the legs. looks like time and distance will
make it impossible. my wife is away on a big trip over the middle
of June, and i've gotta stay in CA and mind the kids at home.

    AWESOME road trip - RoadKill.
Have a great time, be safe, and tell all the guys at Reno that I
    said "Hi".

    Hey Roadkill

Me again. I actually double-checked my own possibilities against your ride schedule. I was seriously thinking about whether I could ride out to Cody, WY and catch you on the way. But like I said before, the dates, times and distances are not going to work for me.

I took a look at your trip. You've got a great series of rides planned. You should have a blast with this one!

    cheers,
    dT

We plan on riding to Yosemite on June 15 from Carson City...we'll head over Tioga Pass, then Yosemite, then Sonora Pass back to CC...then we'll do the Lake Tahoe area on the 16th...never know you might be able to make a run at it

Let us know when you guys will be in Conway. You know you have a place to crash if you need.

Thanks Rip but we prefer the terms: stay, sleep, hang out, chill, relax, etc not CRASH
If everything goes as planned we'll be in Conway June 22nd

I know you will have so much fun my friend. I love those mountain roads.
Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checked by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat.

    Roadkill ... very good offer.
same problem. my wife is gone from Jun 12-27 so I am at
    home that entire time.

Dunno if you saw my post on RSR.
I definitely encourage you to go and see Yosemite.
Just realize it is jam packed with tourists, SUV's and campers.
Probably the busiest national park in mid-summer.
so take it real easy on the Raider and be super careful passing big vehicles.
there are a lot of curves on the road and tons of braind-dead tourists.

but it's still definitely worth riding over the top of the Sierras and down
to the loop around the Yosemite Valley.

You can find food at Camp Curry. There is a great view of Half Dome
    from the parking lot there.
Stick with all posted speed limits inside the park - rangers are very active
    about enforcing regs.

    cheers,
    dT

DT have you been to Glacier Point...was just wondering if it was worth the ride over there....we may just settle for the ride over Tioga Pass, Sonora Pass and Yosemite loop....saw one road in the valley but it doesn't look like you can do the loop..Happy Isle Loop Rd..if you have any info it would be appreciated....Thanks

You will see all the main stuff if you do Tioga Pass and the Yosemite Loop.

Glacier Point is a nice diversion, but not a necessity.
If you go up there and ride back a few miles to the main lookout (above Glacier Point),
you get a beautiful high-elevation view of the Half Dome and
surrounding alpine peaks. But you can skip this section of road
because it does take you well out of your way.

You will see all the famous landmarks from the Yosemite Loop road.
    Have fun!

I gotta' go back up there some time ... those are old stompin'
    grounds for me :-)

Definitely fill up with gas in Lee Vining, on the east side of the Sierras
just before you head up Tioga Pass.

yeah ... I think there's a station somewhere down in the Valley
but I can't remember where it is.

BTW, you will need to pay the park entrance fees - even for a
1-day visit. And there are souvenir shops, as well as pizza places
and ice cream vendors - all over at Camp Curry. You can even take
a shower over there if you want to.
