Default Brand new 2009 Liquid silver

Hi folks, rarely post here, just read. I registered a few years ago after a test ride, hence the user name. I never bought one, but have always liked these bikes. Friday, I test rode again. A 2009 left over Liquid silver Raider. Non S model, and I'm thinking (99% sure) I will buy it tomorrow. They have it marked down to $9999.00 . Seems reasonable to me. I think I may get it a little cheaper if I offer straight up cash. Most every dealer I have worked with always come down pretty good by doing that. Anyway. Just looking for opinions or thoughts for a died in the wool Harley guy. Anyone of you leave the MoCo, for your Raider ? If so, what are your thoughts ?
Married men don't live longer...it just seems like it !

If riding motorcycles is what you love, you will LOVE the Raider. It is much higher up the techno wagon than your previous mount, as you will find out. Better design, better fit and finish, much more care for getting things right. If being part of the "Family" was super important to you, it's hard to tell how you will feel. If you give the Raider an open mind, you will see that it is an evolution of the V-twin that goes back at least to the old Viragos, and has been constantly refined and advanced. Yamaha has really worked hard to get it right.

That is a good price, I believe, for a new 09 model. I have had numerous Harley's over the years and worked for several years at a local dealership in OKC. I rode Harleys from 1984 until 2000 and did enjoy each that I had and put a tremendous amount of miles on them over the years. After 2000, I quit riding for several years and finally got to the point thaT i COULDN'T STAND NOT HAVING A MOTORCYCLE any longer, so I started looking for another. I looked at several Harleys, some Hondas and of course Yamaha. I was blown away by the Raider. The Harleys seemed very small and inept when compared to the raider. It had everything that I was looking for, plus. It is still aircooled like the Harley and a push rod motor, but it has 4 valves per cylinder, 2 plugs per head, a lot more cubic inch and, in my opinion, a lot better riding position and stance. These days there are as many options for Metric bikes as there are for Harleys, so you can still make it you own with whatever add-ons you like. I have not been disappointed for even one minute for making the decision to buy the raider. It is everything that I thought it would be and so much more than a harley. The only thing that the Harley has that the Raider doesn't is perhaps the Prestige and even then it depends on the group that you run with. I still have a lot of friends that ride Harleys and at first they tried to give me a hard time but eventually they learned that I could back up everything that I said about the Raider and its performance, something that was not as easy for them with regards to their Harleys. Good luck in your decision. I assure you that you will not be disappointed in the Raider.
