    Ricky,
You've got a good price on your scoots. Take a bunch more pics and post on fleabay.

Whoever buys these will get a good deal. A 2005 Big Block and a matching trike all upgraded in 2008.

Fine looking pair. Just right for a "His & Hers"

Only thing I see that would have to be changed for
me is the location of the plate and tag light sticking
out in the right turn lane. Other than that minor
change, every thing else is just great.

I think what Paul means is why on the right side . I know your not the only one to run your side mounted plate on the right but the original side mounted plates back in the day of the first choppers were all mounted on the left side . I think the main reason was because the older cars were only required a left hand rear tail light and plate mount and the choppers just picked up on it but there are other practical reasons for a left hand plate mount instead of right.

Nice looking pair of Hosses, the market is now unfortunately a buyers market. Good luck with you getting them sold and at a fair price, they are Nice!! i personally think consignment at a local Hoss dealer would be your best bet for a sale.

It's gonna be a tough sell
    1. Who has 60K to spend on toys?
    2. Who wants to spend it on two motorcycles?
    3. Who wants one for himself and his wife?
    4. The paint jobs could be a deal killer for some.

I'd break up the set and sell them individually

I used to run my plate on the right side back in the fifties and sixties on my Bobbers and Choppers because on Harleys the pipes were on the right side and the license plate brackets that we made fit nicely under them. The plate didn't stick out to far that way. As far as selling the His and Hers bikes goes it will probably be a tough sell at the present time. Its hard to find many folks willing to part with any big money on toys in this economy. Either they want USED ones for practically nothing or if money is no object they want NEW ones ordered with everything EXACTLY the way they want it. Look on EBAY and see all the Boss Hoss bikes that never meet the reserve even when it is ridiculously low. Its easier to sell a USED V8 Chopper bike because used bikes rarely come up for sale.

I would say that you see more Bosses for sale used for a simple reason - there are more of them around - 5000 versus 300 ??? There have been a fairly large number of Choppers that have changed hands in the past 3 or 4 years compared to their total production.

V8 bikes - or any high end toys - are not bringing the money because people are not in the mood to part with their money because of the uncertainty of the economy. High end muscle cars and street rods are down across the board by about 25%. Maybe if the economy turns around the prices will rebound - but the market (individuals with the disposable income) is shrinking. These things don't appeal to the average rider except for the wow factor.

In the car market there is a lot of concern that when the 'baby boomers' quit buying the next generation of hot rodders will opt for 'tuner cars' - not muscle cars. They can pump 500 hp out of a Honda Civic for 1/5 the price. You see it at car shows and swap meets all over. The auctions like B-J, etc are all feeling the crunch and they are reflecting that in their markting techniques......how ever there will always be the individuals with a lot of money like Ron Pratt who just buy because they can.

If you study the sales of V8 bikes,, be it Boss, V8 Chopper, Kanon, King V - a lot of them are changing hands because of economics - not necessarily to upgrade - it has happened many times on this Board - sign of the times - times get tight - toys are going to go before the house or family sedan. Then there are the ones who sell because the V8 bikes are getting too much to handle as the rider "matures"...........

RIGHT NOW THE TOY MARKET IS ALL ABOUT ECONOMICS. IMHO

The reason the plate is on the right side is because thats where Marv put it when it had to be changed because or Fl law.
I think the bikes are priced right even with the economy.

Grumpy I agree with everything you said. Of course there are more Boss Hoss bikes for sale for the exact reason you said which is there are way more of them. I also agree that most of the V8 bikes being sold are not to upgrade but because of peoples financial problems. In my opinion most of us just feel lucky that we still own the toys we have. Its hard for most of us to justify selling a perfectly good Boss Hoss or V8 Chopper for what it will bring to get the latest and greatest new model with the extra amount we would have to spend to do that. Thankfully for the manufacturers there are always some who can do that. To the average motorcycle rider you have to be rich in their eyes to even buy a used V8 bike. I hear the same thing you say about the hot rods and baby boomers. The youth today are into the tuner cars and the hot rods that were part of us old guys growing up don't mean much to them. I notice this with my old British bikes. They are not in as much demand anymore and at the collector bike auctions there are now Japanese bikes bringing good money. Last year I sold a SANDCAST 1969 750 Honda to a collector in Japan for over 20000 dollars. Even if the economy ever does get better I don't think the prices on toys will rise very much, but at least there will be a few more people to buy them and those that have them will have a better chance of not being forced to sell them. In my opinion the real value of these bikes is the fun they bring you when you ride them. Luckily the value of the fun that we get when we ride the bikes never goes down no matter where the value goes in dollars.

Yup buying investment vehicles today is not a sturdy market - unless you have the resources to 'sit' on them for a long time - or if you are getting them for 20% of list.

Unfortunately for those who need to sell - it is a terrible time.

Stu called me the other day to brag about buying your bike! Good plan to break up the set. Likely to find more buyers that want one or the other!

Say.... am I the only one who considers a motorcycle a 'necessity' in life, and is by NO MEANS a toy?

Since I was 10 years old... a motorcycle was something I would strive to have for all of my oxygen using days. I'm guessing if you have a partner that demands the bike go away... you got the wrong partner. Economy will dictate what we can or cannot afford... but if your bike is paid for, and you cannot afford insurance and registration, repairs, or what have you... Shelve the bike until you CAN divvy up for those requirements.

Although I'm guessing a majority of the V8 riders, simply stroked a cheque for their bike/bikes/trikes... (They planned a better financial future than I did).

I'm no judge of any soul, even those that refer to these bikes as Toys... I'm just glad I'm still here, and able to tinker on, and ride my own V8 bike! For life!
