    Default Factory sweeps..

I bought my 2010 Raider "S" new. It has the after market sweeps pipes on it (the one with the little "c" with the wide "V" under it). I already tried to get the baffles out without success. The dealer said that you have to take the pipes off and beat the baffles out from the top...thwere's GOT to be a better, if not easier way. Does anybody have any suggestions, or methods of getting the baffles out the ass end of the pipes?

There is a bolt from the back of the pipe in each one. It's tricky to get out on the bike, but possible. Take the bolt out, then from inside the pipe thread the bolt into the baffle just a few turns. Wrap a coat hanger around the bolt inside the pipe and yank away. ... Wear gloves

And those the c v marking is the cobra logo. Those swept pipes are probably the most popular raider pipes out there. Mild exhaust levels... Good deep tone, decent hp gains with the power port crossover. Good pipes, had a set, just wasn't loud enough imo

Take out the screw and with a really long set of needle nose pliers, pull them out. I've also heard of people taking out the screw and revving up the motor so the back pressure helps loosen them up a bit.

There are a couple of videos on youtube showing the removal without taking the pipes off. just saw them today. I think I'm gonna have to try this! Looks easy enough, and has to sound better (louder) haha. I think I'll try to do a before and after video.

Default Not that easy, but can be done.

Ok, I got home and broke out the ol tool bag. I have a 2008 red w/ Flames, ( not that it matters haha) and I have 30,000 miles on it. I put ever one of them one it. So I knew it was gonna be a little tough.
To start: Spray WD-40 on the bolts and the inside of the exhaust and let it sit for a while, about 45 mins.

I started with the bottom exhaust. Screw came right out. Then I have to figure out how to reach in with what I have and some how pull the baffel out. Well it don't just pull out!! I took a hint from the video and drilled a hole in a 1 inch x 18 inch pc of flat bar, then backed a scew into the hole and used that to stick into the inside of the exhaust and hook the baffel. Clamped a vice grip onto the metal bar and hammered the vice grip until the baffel came out. took me about 30 mins.

Now the top exhaust. I tried to take out the bolt holding the baffel and the hex is stripped out!!! It had to have been done when the dealer put the pipes on! CRAP!! So instead of removing the entire exhaust and drilling the bolt out, I decided to call a friend tomorrow and see if he has an exstraction bit I can use to get the bolt out of the baffel.

I will update when I get the tool and see. I can say that with one baffel out the sound from the exhaust is louder and deeper. hehehehe! I think I'm gonna like this!!

Well since it was time for maintenance on the old raider anyway. I took the exhaust off the bike and got that pesky screw out finally! I also changed the oil, plugs, and cleaned up the air filter. After putting it all back together, I do like the swepts without the baffles. It gives the deeper and louder sound I was looking for. I will try to post the before and after video later. ( I should have taken those baffles out long ago!)
