    Default Windshield help...

...I am 6' 1" rider looking for windshield for '09 Raider. I've noticed several styles in various pics on the forum. I like the look of the "shorter" ones, but will those just increase the wind on my face? Also, i can't seem to find any shorter than 15"...went on the suggested sites from forum home page...National Cycle, and Memphis shades...any other suggestions where to find the shorter shields?...One more q...suggestions on quick release hardware??

There are a few to choose from for the Raider here are just a few. (Gosh...I didn't think I would ever be able to say that!) http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/...056/all/1.aspx I have the 19'' Yamaha Quick release on my ride and love it. It sits low, is off the bike in seconds and dose not leave a lot of unsightly hardware behind. I hope this helps.
    cheers

I have the Memphis Shades Pop-Top. Like the looks but hate using it to the point I just removed the mounting hardware. I'm 6'1", as you are, and it hits me in the forehead/face so bad that I can't stand using it. I don't even like it with a helmet on. I may not be a windshield person but I was happy with a handlebar fairing back in the 70's. IMHO 6'1" needs a taller windshield. If your bike is slammed the Pop-Top may work for you.

Riding with it was my only problem. Loved the quick release, and instalation was easy.

I only used it around 3 or 4 times, so it's like new, no scratches. If anybody's interested $150 and shippings on me in the lower 48.

I am 6'2" and I have the Yamaha 14". There is a little bit of buffeting (sp?) from where the wind catches the top of my helmet but, man I love the thing. There have been several times that a rock or bug has knocked the crap out of the windshield and reminded me of one of the reasons I have one. But, I haven't noticed any scratches or dings on it yet.

I did make a slight mod to it by drilling new mounting screws through the plastic about an inch higher than the stock holes, so it is actually a 15".

Oh, and the quick release is great. Unlocks with a key and just pull it off....takes about 10 seconds!

I'm 6' tall & I have the Memphis Shades Classic Duece which sits 19" above the headlight. It mounts to the handlebar and is off in about 2 minutes. It keeps the wind off me at most speeds up to triple digits at which point, what does it matter! My wife rides with me sometimes and says it keeps the wind mostly off of her too. It can be adjusted from laying down to match the angle of the forks to almost standing straight up. I have it somewhere in the middle and it wraps around the headlight nicely to push the wind around you as well. I think I have a pic in my profile. If not let me know and I'll get you one.

Default star oem quick release windshield problem

got the new windshield the other day with the brackets. brackets went on fine but when i installed the windshield the the latch wouldent lock in place i ended up looseening the bolt closing the latch and then just screwing it on whiich defeats the purpose of quick release any one else have any problems with this the only way i can think to fix it would be getting a smaller diameter spacer for the latch to close on.

Did you try wiggling the key? Mine sometimes sticks a bit. The key lifts the latch thing on the left side. I sometimes have to fiddle with mine to get the latch to lift. I dunno - just tryin' to help. FWIW the sheilds work really well.
