Just wrapped up two weeks on the road, one more day off and back to the grind. Left Portland for Bellingham the first week, then accross to Leavenworth Wash, and down to Joseph Oregon. One of the best cycling roads I've ever been on is hwy 3 from Lewiston Idaho to Enterprise Oregon, 87 miles of some of the best twisties known to man.
Then home a couple days and off to Beverly beach state park on the central Oregon coast for four days. Two weeks in Oregon and Washington, mild temps and not a drop of rain, finished up with a bottom fish and crab charter out of Depot Bay..... two weeks goes by too fast, but it was a great trip

The suns out today and alltho the morning was cold it was a great day to ride to work.
But this isn't about that......
Last august, when I got the raider, one of the other guys at work bought an 08 heritage softail and, throughout the winter he went about putting another 7000 in doodads on it. He's now up to around 29,000 and some change. I wish I could talk to him about his style choices--studs on everything including his helmet straps! And tassles hangin where they should'nt be, but hey-to each his own.
My bike on the other hand-pipes,fuel mod, sissy bar for when the old lady wants to ride-
So... He's leavin work today and I say "race ya for titles" and he replies" I'd have to get a v-rod 1st, and I think to myself yea,and learn to ride it,,, when the other harley guy there kicks in and say's " just because your bikes fast doesnt make it cool"
And not alway's quik on the retort I think... yea its about the money and the name.
If he'd of raced for titles I'd have a fast bike and one to sell to someone else who needs that kind of cool
the raider is not only cool, it is way f--n fast .........peace out t.r

Winter in oregon has been, to say the least, a bit rough this year. You get rides in when you can, I rode to work a couple weeks ago in 27 degree weather during the a.m., but hey, it was dry.
Which brings me to last sundays jaunt, just a shorty around town before the big game, good weather, cool and clear, roads still a bit damp, but no big.
On the way out I decided to stop by our local bicycle shop, haven't been riding one since I got the raider in august, so I shot out to Powell blvd, hung a left and headed down the hill the 5 blocks to 21st ave. Gave her some gas and broke loose the tire a bit,got that warm fuzzy feelin I've had since I bought this beast, regained my sanity and the speed limit and prepared to turn right onto 21st.
As I hit the blinker, and began to decellerate, I hear this God awful screeching behind and with just enough time to look in the mirror, see a small, high rise pickup smokin his tires, coming around me on the right side, direction of my turn and without moving watched him come up along side me and stop. The driver, some young kid, had this stupid fu**$!g look on his face like sorry man!... At which point with a face mask on I launched into a tirade of choice descriptives while he made my right and took off down 21st ave.
I pulled upto the bike shop and two sweet older women asked if I was o.k at which point I said I was, but probably should check my shorts!
Its good to be alive,..Happy trails...tr

But because the weather here tomorrow is going to hit 88 degrees i"m taking a vacation day and puttin in an eight hour day doin what I wan't to do.I think a couple tanks of gas should do it, one out , one back..
I did the fender mod where you cut off the plate light and raised the plate up, using a set of tag lights I picked up at wal-mart for 3 bucks, but they were so bright I had to fab some tangs to cover them while I wait for a 20 dollar frame light to be shipped.
The wife and I went for a short run out today on the roadstar, I never felt this way till I got used to the raider, that thing is a pooch, its still a great bike, I'm just spoiled now.
Have a great monday ya"ll, don't work to hard

The ride is about 230miles out through the columbie river gorge, nice views, fast freeway miles. On the way home i decided to see what she'ld really do, on a long sweeper,no one around.
Full out not letting up the bike flattened out at 123 and held.
Maybe I should turn up my 3rd pot a bit,its set at 3 right now, I was left thinkin is that all there is?

As we get closer to fall the airs allready getting a chill to it and the clouds are ready to spill at any given moment. I got called in last night to repair a signal about 4:30 pm, hopped on the bike and got rained on going to work, not to bad, just wasn't ready for it.
The grandkids are coming over in a minute, will spend the day with those two powerhouse boys, give them a ride on the raider.. hopefully not scare the ---- out of them!
Steaks ready for a monday bbq, have a great weekend all!

O.k. this is a first for me, so like most of my projects, this will be a work in progress..
My first thought about buying a new bike came on july 26th, the day my daughter moved out of the house. You know, new empty nester, 51 and holding,(somewhat). I have a perfectly good !st year roadstar with 28,000 on it, but we're not thinkin rationally are we?
So i'm into brand loyalty and when I saw the raider that was it,can you say love at first sight?
14 dealers and two weeks later I drove 300 miles south to pick up my raven without so much as a test drive, dropped off in the dealers lot by my understanding wife and left to ride the beast home...
300 miles the 1st day was a great ride, up the upper rogue river, into the high desert, through Bend and the backside of Mt Hood, and home to the big city.
I"ve got 1200 miles on it in 11 days and it gets pipes tommorow.
I'll let you know what she has to say after that
