The people who are starting college this fall across the nation were
born in 1987.

They are too young to remember the first space shuttle blowing up on
liftoff.

Their lifetime has always included AIDS.

Bottle caps have always been screw off and plastic.

The CD was introduced the year they were born.

They have always had an answering machine.

They have always had cable.

They cannot fathom not having a remote control.

Jay Leno has always been on the Tonight Show.

Popcorn has always been cooked in the microwave.

They never took a swim and thought about Jaws.

They can't imagine what hard contact lenses are.

They don't know who Mork was or where he was from.

They never heard: "Where's the Beef?"

"I'd walk a mile for a Camel" or "de plane, Boss, de plane"

They do not care who shot J. R. and have no idea who J. R. even is.

McDonald's never came in Styrofoam containers.

They don't have a clue how to use a typewriter.

Manuel? Is that of Mexican manufacture    ? Bro', I can remember when computer keys made a "kachunking" sound when you pressed the buttons and had paper ticker type tape coming out of them. Sometimes I feel so old I can't even get motivated enough to sharpen my stone chisels.

Yep,
One of my phones is made of Bak-a-Lite and was made in the 30's, and I still have my 8 track collection of over 200 tapes from 1968 until 1980, and a good, working Lear Jet, 8 track stereo.
About 5 years ago, a friend handed me a CD and said, "Listen to this."
I said, Sorry, it won't work on my 45 record player because the hole was too small."

I remember growing up on the farm in NE Iowa and our phone # was
2 shorts and a long ring! Never really knew how many people were on that party line system, but you could always hear someone picking up the receiver, listening in for a while then hang up! Actually my Grandmother was the switch-board operator in Winthrop, Iowa for over fourty years, just like Hee-Haw. "Winthrop, number please?"

I'm old enough to remember having a party line and when we moved up to a private line our number was "Plaza-8 2643".

Yep, and if you wanted to mail something just:

Name
RFD (rural federal delivery)
Town, State

And blank counter checks at the banks:
Just fill in your name and 3 digit account number and you got your cash!
