I ordered a new shift rod and Raider axle plates.

Has anyone else changed these or put them on? How hard and whats involved in doing so?

The shift rod looks was easy but the axle plates say I need to remove the rear axle...seems like a big mod.

I know that some rear axle plates cause you to have to remove the rear axle and make adjustments because the axle nut sticks out on the right rear.

I chose these:

They're $84.00 (about half way done the page). They come in a set and the right rear has an indentation for the nut... removal of the rear axle is not necessary.

I believe the ones from Kury... also do not require you to remove the axle.

I see you have a cone filter on your Raider. How do you like it? Is it a pain to switch over to that? Looks sharp.

I love the spike... even if it is just for show. If by chance you don't know... the air intake on the Raider is under the tank. Behind your right side cover is the coils/wires. The spike is actually made for a V-Star 1100 and can be found on the internet for around 200.00. It's not a direct bolt-on but it is an easy mod. I just shoved the coils up inside the fake intake.

If you want to know more... let me know.

Oh so it's not really a functional cone filter...I see. I thought you somehow modified the air intake under the tank to make the spike take it's place. I actually prefer it to be just for show since some people I know who have them on Harleys say they are a pain in the ass to keep clear from all the bugs and crap sucked up on the road.

Yeah.... I can't imagine that getting caught in a rain storm would be a good idea either.

Do you have a link of where you got yours or part #? What exactly did you have to do to install the spike?

You can get the spike here
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/YAMAHA-VSTAR-V-STAR-1100-SPIKE-AIR-CLEANER-INTAKE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1205Q7c66Q 3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a1Q7c29 3Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZi tem3ef4f5c3cfQQitemZ270397719503QQptZMotorcyclesQ5 fPartsQ5fAccessories

As for the install take off the fako cleaner get the coils loose and stuff them inside the tube and bolt the spike on. Everything is included in the kit except one bolt and one nut ...then you will need to drill one hole in the mounting tab for the bolt to hold the spike on....not much to it
